Pickup Orders for Saturday, May 30th, 2020

Here we are on the cusp of June and Summer. Changes in seasons, possibly getting a bit closer to “normal” life again soon! Is everyone coping OK?

We’ve got a couple of additions to this week’s bread and pastry lineup, we hope you enjoy them!

First, the Special Guest Bread loaf this weekend is our tasty Roasted Potato and Green Onion loaf. This soft and very tender bread)is a gently flavoured and would be excellent with cheese, eggs, pretty much anything savoury.

A new addition – on the pickup roster at least – is flakey Apple Strüdel by the slice. Made with Granny Smith apple slices with a sweet sauce of cinnamon, nutmeg, etc., all inside our tasty puff dough made with real butter and sprinkled with coarse sugar.

Chocolate-dipped Coconut Macaroons: $2.10 each
A bit more rustic than French Macarons, these tasty treats are made without flour.

Nanaimo Bars $4.20 ea.
Your Classic Nanaimo bar! Or the Peanut Butter variety! Yum!

Lemon Bars: $4.20 ea.
Delicious, tart lemon curd, drizzled with white chocolate on a blonde cookie base.

Date Squares: $3.95 (4 left)
Hearty, sweet with a touch of orange juice to lighten it up, these are filling snacks. And oh so good!

Pickup Orders for May 23rd, 2020

Wow, May is just flying by! Almost June, almost summer. Hope everyone has been surviving the quarantine okay for these last two months!

We are offering our popular “Wednesday” flavour of sourdough this weekend: Kalamata olive tapenade! OK, typically this loaf is just referred to as “olive sourdough” but the full name describes it a bit better. And here is an even more complete description:

This is our house sourdough with the addition of a tasty tapenade, a mix of sliced Kalamata olives, rosemary, green onion, roasted garlic, and a dash of lemon zest and black pepper. If you hadn’t tried it yet, take this opportunity to give it a go! It really is extra tasty and goes well with savoury dishes!

This “Guest Star” loaf is available for $6.25

Grab one as well as a plain Hearthstone Sourdough for the more standard sandwiches to enjoy for the week. Be sure to get your sourdough order in by Wednesday at 5 so we can start the long 3-day process.

New Bread and New Treats!

Heading towards the 3rd month of this COVID “thang”, we thought we’d pull out a couple of popular items from way back in the “good ol’ days” when things were normal.

(Ordering info is at the bottom.)

This week, we’re adding Challah to the list of bread available.
This tender, egg-based classic bread is woven into a pretty braid and makes a nice dinner addition. And after two months of this COVID issue, who doesn’t need a soft, tasty and fancy lookin’ loaf of bread with dinner?
Leftovers make great french toast (recipe) topped with fresh fruit for breakfast!

Orders need to be in by Thursday 5 p.m.
Challah, per loaf: $6.25.
Please specify if you would like it WITH sesame seed.; the default is without.

Special Orders fo May 9th

It’s (almost) Mother’s day!

And to celebrate Mom and all that she does, we’re adding a couple of special treats this week:

Macarons and Fudge Brownies

First, Macarons. These are almond-based cookies with light airy shells and our special ones this weekend will come in Earl Grey Tea, Chocolate Ganache or Lemon Curd.
These can be mixed and matched in a pack of 6 for $15.70

The Fudge Brownies are dense chocolaty treats (nut-free) with a crackly top like Grandma used to make. They can be ordered in singles and are $3.90 ea.

Ordering: These two special items will be made to order but we must receive this by 5 p.m. Wednesday to get enough time to have then made for Saturday pickup.

Our delicious mix of Oats, Pumpkin and Sunflower seed, Raisins, Cranberries and Apricots, all baked with honey, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Delicious as a breakfast cereal or a healthy snack with a bit of yogurt.

Limited stock: Some of the items we have are limited to what was made right before the COVID-19 issue made its appearance. We have since then run on a skeleton crew and simply making use of the stocks we have on hand. Should you order an item that is already “sold out”, we will let you know right away and give you a list of the latest numbers on similar items. You can then update your order as you see fit.
